It’s common for women to have hormone fluctuations during periods time, Can their menstrual cycle and/or going through menopause affect their glucose levels? If so, are there any measures to be taken care during this period?

Yes, it can. What happens is you get a decreased insulin sensitivity during this time. If you are taking insulin it may not be sufficient to lower your blood sugar, resulting in hyperglycemia or high blood sugar. The best thing to do is monitor at a regular pace, then your doctor can adjust things accordingly.

Unfortunately, there have been very few study in the area of menstruation and blood sugar control. The common result is that menstruation’s affect on blood sugar control is varied depending on the individual. As a result, blood sugar testing during this time is the only way to know how it affects that particular woman’s blood sugar.

70 is really low for blood sugar isn't it? My doctor just hopes I get it down below 150. I don't understand the correlation between low blood sugar and your fistula.
