What type of footware needed for diabetics? Do they have special footwear?

One of my aunt is a diabetic and has nerve damage to her feet. So, are there special footwear or socks needs does she need to wear to avoid further food problems? and is it compulsory for all the diabetics to have special footwear?

As the question states, for a Pre-Diabetic, by making diet changes can he/she avoid becoming a full diabetic? This will be useful for all those pre-diabetics to get an idea of what precautionary measures to be taken care.

This question is bugging me for quite sometime now. Why should diabetics need to prick their fingers for blood? Why can not use their forearm or other place that is sensitive? Is the blood different in other parts of the body?

Why do diabetics get sores on their feet?

One of my friend is a diabetic and he has recently discovered a small sore on my little toe, its not open or emptying or anything its just so sore. Its between the toes on top of the toe. Any suggestions on what it could be or the best way to treat it?
